"If you’re going to present a compilation of sumptuous melodies that are an integral fixture of popular musical culture, the performances need to be flawlessly stylish. In support and solidarity of community and music, Capuçon travelled across France throughout July and August 2020 performing repertoire from Emotions outdoors to local communities, in a tour he came to call ‘Un Ête en France.’ Capuçon felt so affected by the fire in 2019, he chose to include an homage in this deeply personal album.Īlthough conceived and recorded prior to the global pandemic, Emotions reflects what many have been feeling and experiencing during the recent months. The album also features the choir Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris for a special arrangement of Schubert’s Ave Maria in honour of Notre Dame Cathedral. With composers ranging from Debussy and Dvorak, to Richter and Qigang Chen, to Leonard Cohen and Edith Piaf, each track has been especially chosen by Capuçon for its special meaning to him and the emotions they inspire: “ they all have a link with my story, my childhood, my life as a musician, as a regular man.” (Gautier Capuçon). "Emotions" recorded with Jérôme Ducros, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, and Adrien Perruchon.įollowing from his 2018 release Intuition, Emotions is a collection of short pieces invoking the range and depth of human emotions. 16 Nyman: The Heart Asks Pleasure First 03:39.Ducros: Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 5 Richter: The Leftovers: She Remembers 03:34.
